Allie X & Violet Chachki – The Foundry – Philadelphia (A PopEntertainment.com Concert Review)

Alley X & Violet Chachki – The Foundry – Philadelphia, PA – November 1, 2024

Philadelphia welcomed Allie X to the stage for an incredible night on her Weird World tour, celebrating her latest album Girl With No Face. Allie X was joined by the multi-talented Violet Chachki, the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 on this run. Fans packed into the venue for what proved to be an amazing night of theatrics, electrifying performance, and an unforgettable time.

The first to take the stage was Violet Chachki. Violet set the tone for the evening with a performance that combined high-fashion flair with her knack for live performance. Known for her impeccable style and jaw-dropping looks, Violet lived up to her reputation with a series of stunning outfit changes throughout her set that made the crowd go wild each time. This tour marked a new chapter for Violet as she ventured into live vocals – a move which fans enthusiastically embraced.

Violet took the stage with poise, charisma, and of course her wicked sense of humor. She delivered an energetic and sensual set featuring fan-favorites like “A Lot More to Me” and “Mistress Violet.” She also got the audience moving and singing along with an incredible cover of Visage’s “Fade to Grey.”

Shortly after Violet left the stage, it was time for Allie X’s set to begin. Not only was Allie’s set full of incredible vocals, but it was theatrical, it was performance art. I was drawn in from the second her band took the stage, and even more so once Allie herself took the stage. The lights went low, and the audience was transported into the otherworldly and dark atmosphere Allie X is known for. Allie began her set with her tracks “Bitch,” “Weird World,” “Black Eye,” and the title track of her latest album, “Girl with No Face.” The atmosphere of Allie’s set was shadowy and moody, the lights on stage and outfits worn by the band matching this vibe and amplifying it even more.

Fans excitedly sang along to each word as her set continued with “Science,” “You Slept On Me,” “John and Jonathan,” and “Galina.” The crowd was up off their feet dancing, while Allie made great use of the stage, taking advantage of every inch to interact with the crowd, and moving back and forth from her piano to the microphone. Musically, this show was absolutely incredible. The chemistry between Allie X and her band is undeniable, and Allie’s vocals live were stunning – I had chills countless times throughout the night!

Allie X finished off her set with one of my all-time favorite songs of hers, “Off With Her Tits,” as well as an encore consisting of “Susie Save Your Love,” “Old Habits Die Hard,” and “Truly Dreams.” If you’re looking for a show that’s immersive, out of the box, avant-garde, and full of talent unlike any other, make sure to get out and see a show on the Weird World tour! Allie X’s shows are continuing through the end of November, so be sure to grab your tickets while you can.
