Childish Gambino – Wells Fargo Center – Philadelphia, PA – September 18, 2018

On September 18th, the audience of one of Childish Gambino’s final shows were struck with a chill. The light beams that implemented simple nature of Gambino’s performance were marvelous. He began his show stating, “You’re not at a concert. This is motherfucking church.” This message stayed true throughout his entire performance, Gambino put his all into his performance at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Rae Sremmurd opened the show with an unforgettable performance, leaving the audience jumping out of their seats! Rae Sremmurd is a duo of two brothers Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee. On Instagram with a stunning 5.7 million following and 727.9 thousand followers on Twitter, this duo is not likely to go unnoticed. While Swae Lee spend most of his time in front of the crowd, Slim Jxmmi was unfortunately not in a performance state of mind. Two hours earlier a close friend took his own life.

Due to the tragedy Slim Jxmmi did not spend much time performing, and what he did was in tribute to all the recent artists who have committed suicide. While on stage he tweeted “Tell your people u love them while they here.” Later, apologizing for his lack of performance, “Philly, I’m so sorry about tonight”. No matter the situation, the group continued to pull through their performance, performing all their hits; including “Sway,” “42,” “Somebody Come Get Her,” “Black Beatles,” and more!

“You got a ticket to the last Childish Gambino tour ever,” stated Gambino. The performance could not have been rawer, or more regal. Originality is Gambino’s signature move, blessing every aspect of the night with his killer dance moves and passion.

The real moniker behind the famed Childish Gambino stage name is Donald McKinley Glover Jr., an American actor, writer, performer, producer, singer, songwriter, rapper, and DJ. His stardom shows on every level of the industry. The “This is America” tour showcased the final glory moments of his singer-songwriter career. It incorporated a full live band and choir. The humble standpoint of Gambino’s values lie are the exact note that he left his show on, reflecting on where he stands in life, “You don’t know how far you can go till you get there.”

It was a memorable and humble night. The final performance was a success, leaving the crowd on the last song, “Redbone.” It was a good way to ending the concert – and the musician character – on the final lyrics and message: “Stay woke.”
