Kiana Ledé – Webster Hall – New York, NY – October 6, 2019
She took the stage and the mood shifted drastically. It went from relaxed and patient, to “a five-year old on Christmas morning who’s getting a new puppy” kind of excited. She was greeted with a cheers, claps, screeches, and whistles that lasted longer than her opening song, “Can I.” She stood there, grateful, with arms wide open, holding back tears and let it soak in.
She’s Kiana Ledé and she made her mark at Webster Hall, New York. She has a loyal fan base (both OG’s and new members) who knew the lyrics to all her songs. She had fun with the audience and engaged us with upbeat singalongs like “Big Spender.” Then she got real with us as she spoke about her own struggles which led her into a beautifully sung and heartfelt “Heavy.”
Every riff, every dance move, every soft smile; they all drove the crowd wild. She was like an angel gracing our presence. Her outfit change mid-set really embraced that theme too. She wore a shining, white beaded one-piece that captured the room’s attention even more. She looked as beautiful as I hope she had felt.
She left us without playing her most well-known song “Bouncin’,” but deep down we all knew she was coming back. After two long minutes (which felt like 30) she returned, and we ended the concert on the highest, happiest note… bouncing to “Bouncin’.” There’s much more to a concert than just the main act (the venue, the environment, etc.), but this concert was different. This was Kiana Ledé’s show and all eyes were on her.
