Marshmello Helps with Sweet Stuff Happening in Bethlehem, PA.
Sweet stuff is happening in Bethlehem, PA. It’s pretty brilliant when you think about it. You take a delicious marshmallow, add scrumptious chocolate in the middle, and you’ll have a perfect marriage of complete and utter yummy-ness called Stuffed Puffs. This exciting new treat, which is perfect for S’mores, baking, hot chocolate or eating straight out of the bag, has already sold out at Walmart and will be flying off the shelves of other stores across the county by next year.
Just yesterday, we attended ribbon cutting ceremonies for the new 150,000 square foot Stuffed Puffs factory in Bethlehem. Still a work in progress, we were greeted with hard hats, music, delicious food and numerous special guests and speakers including the Stuffed Puffs inventor and CEO Mike Tierney, Richard Thompson of Factory LLC, Jim Petrucci of J.G Petrucci Co., Don Cunningham of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp and one of the music industry’s hottest DJs – Marshmello.

“This wasn’t an easy or a short journey,” said Tierney. “This journey started about 11 years ago, around a campfire actually, while I was a freshman in college. Four years after school, I was working in some fine dining restaurants across the country but couldn’t shake this idea to go out and chase this crazy passion for chocolate filled marshmallows.”

So, he did. Fast forward to late 2019, and now Bethlehem will be the home for this sweet treat, bringing more than 100-plus new jobs and other additional revenue to the area. Their current smaller facility is located in Wisconsin and is running around the clock to satisfy the need for Stuffed Puffs.

I was joined at the event by my teenager because, let’s face it… she loves anything marshmallow, chocolate and everything DJ Marshmello. In an excellent marketing ploy, Tierney reached out to Moe Shalizi, Marshmello’s manager, who was also in attendance yesterday. Tierney pitched his idea of Stuffed Puffs marshmallows over and over again to get them in the hands of DJ Marshmello. In my eyes, this was another winning idea by Tierney. Throughout the event, cooking videos played on the wall with Marshmello creating different delicious recipes utilizing Stuffed Puffs.
Pennsylvania, which has long been labeled Pretzel-vania for the large amount of pretzel and snack chip manufacturing plants, now has another snack food to boast about. So, keep a look out for Stuffed Puffs on your grocery store shelves soon. Whether you are sitting around a campfire or cozying up on the couch, you can enjoy this new chocolate/marshmallow combo any time!
