Disney’s full-length holiday adventure of Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse is a re-release from 2001. Still it’s a winner with a new group of kids and older, who enjoy Mickey Mouse, House of Mouse and Disney holiday shorts.
House of Mouse episodes originally aired on the Disney Channel and ABC, Saturday mornings from 2001 to 2003. The storylines always revolved around Mickey and friends running a nightclub whose patrons included cast members from all different eras in Disney movies. As entertainment for the club-goers, Mickey would play Disney short films for the audience’s enjoyment.
This DVD basically has the same premise, just with a holiday flare. As a snowstorm strands Mickey and his guests at the House of Mouse, in order to entertain his guests, they break out old holiday shorts to try to get everyone in the holiday spirit… especially the ever-cranky Donald! The shorts featured at the House of Mouse celebration include “The Nutcracker,” “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” (my all-time favorite Christmas short!) and “The Best Christmas of All.”
As I am sure you can guess, by the end of the evening everyone – including Donald – is having a wonderful time and filled with holiday joy. Kids and adults alike really enjoy picking out their favorite Disney characters from movies of the past. This DVD has thirty-five in total! See characters including Ariel, Cinderella, Pooh, Minnie, Goofy and many more.
DVD bonuses include the premier episode of House of Mouse titled “The Stolen Cartoons,” from January 2001, two sing-along songs of “Deck the Halls” and “Sleigh Ride” and “The Sounds of Christmas – A Disney Sound Effects Featurette.”
