On July 27th, a monstrous tour featuring the likes of Of Mice and Men, Marilyn Manson, and Slipknot, stormed through the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ. This show was an absolute spectacle and very well put together overall.

I arrived at what seemed to be the middle of Of Mice and Men’s set, which to me was going very well. I took my seat after I was given my credentials for the night and proceeded to take a few mental notes. For somebody that recently underwent open-heart surgery, Austin Carlile had the crowd engaged and moving with his gut-wrenching vocal ability. He put on a stellar performance. It’s great to see him back on his feet doing what he does best. The rest of the band put on top-notch performances. I’m especially eager to check out their upcoming record, Cold World, which is set for release on September 9th. The title track is absolutely killer and heavy.

Up next, pop culture icon and the Antichrist Superstar himself – Marilyn Manson – began his performance. Out of the all of the acts on the bill, I was particularly interested the most in seeing Marilyn Manson perform because of the uniqueness of his shows. His performance that night exceeded my expectations. From on-stage antics to throwing random bags of chalk into the crowd, he gave the fans in attendance something to talk about. My camera bag is partially a different a color now. Thanks, Marilyn (seriously). His set list began with “Angel With the Scabbed Wings” and continued with classics such as “Disposable Teens”, “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)”, “Antichrist Superstar”, before ending with “The Beautiful People.”

Finally, the time has come. Slipknot comes out to end the show with a bang. Corey Taylor was a bit limited physically on this current tour due to the fact that he recently underwent spinal surgery. That didn’t affect him at all as he still sang his heart out. New drummer Jay Weinberg, and new bassist, Alessandro Venturella, were a main focus because the buzz has been nothing but great things about them since they’ve both joined Slipknot. As sad as it is not having Paul Gray or Joey Jordison around anymore, both fill the voids perfectly.

Some of the highlights were the new tracks from the latest album, .5: The Gray Chapter, which included “The Negative One”, “Skeptic”, and “The Devil in I,” all of which are part of the set list on this tour. Overall, minus two members plus two new members, nothing has changed in Slipknot’s world. The band performed beautifully. Slipknot has always been one of my favorite live bands and they continue to amp it up every time that I see them.

This show will go down as one of the best shows that I’ve had the great privilege of attending. Everybody did a great job. There’s still a few shows left on this tour so be sure to grab a ticket and have a great time.
