The 8th Annual Miss Russian LA 2019 Competition Celebrates the Beauty and Culture of Russia, Sunday, March 24 in Hollywood


(Los Angeles) Hollywood rolls out the red carpet as ten Russian beauties step into the spotlight when the 8th Annual Miss Russian LA 2019 competition returns to Hollywood on Sunday, March 24 at the Taglyan Cultural Complex, located at 1201 Vine Street in Hollywood.


This elegant evening event will highlight the strength, intelligence, beauty, and talent of these finalists representing their Russian roots as they compete to win the coveted Miss Russian LA 2019 title.


“I founded this event to showcase new talent in our community as it is not only a beauty pageant but also an exciting talent event,” says Lika Osipova, Producer/Director of Miss Russian LA 2019. “Even with all the turbulence surrounding Russia, we are grateful for all the incredible amount of support and enthusiasm for this pageant in the Los Angeles community.  My goal is to provide a challenging competition as well as an entertainment-filled evening.”


As the champagne flows, the caviar dreams begin for these ten contestants.  This star-studded event will offer special performances by Lev Axelrod (actor/singer, who was a 13-year-old finalist on Russia’s version of The Voice), along with a show-stopping opener by Robert James Dobbs (the singer/songwriter from the pop/rock band The Mid-Summer Classic who has embarked on a solo career), performance of our National Anthem Ramella Ferrer (from Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian), Andrey Tcvetkov (finalist from Russia’s version of The Voice), Oleg Frish (multi-talented singer, music historian, and popular talk show host) with many more to be announced.  Kivon Lindley (actor who is best known for Lords of Underworld, The Second Half, and Undefiled) is the Master of Ceremony for the Ms Russian LA.


Celebrity judges will include:  Max Ryan (British actor from Sex and the City 2, Rage, The Foreigner, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), Christine Peters (producer of hit romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days); Sheila Conlin (known as the “TV casting Queen” and producer of reality shows Hells Kitchen, Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian, Hotel Hell with Gordon Ramsey and the Best of Comedy Live); Ben Stein (political and economic commentator), Walter Afanasieff (multi-Grammy award winning record producer, songwriter and composer); Evgeny Afneevsky (Oscar and Emmy-nominated director/producer of the documentary Winter on Fire and Cries from Syria, which earned him a Critic’s Choice Documentary Award); Shipra Khanna (Season 2 winner of television series MasterChef India); Ryan Long (Founder of City Summit and Gala), Joe Cortese (actor with a unforgettable appearance the Academy Award Film Green Book, and major film roles in Windows, Evilspeak, Monsignor and more); Gleb Savchenko (professional dancer/choreographer currently on Dancing with the Stars), and Polina Egorov (Miss Russian United States 2018).


Special invited guests include Jeff Rice (film producer with 100 credits of Lone Survivor, 2 Guns, Day of the Dead: Bloodline and more) Gleb Savchenko (professional dancer/choreographer currently on Dancing with the Stars), Eugenia Kuzmina (Russian-American actress, comedian and model), Anna Petrova (2017 Ms. Russian LA), and the 2018 Ms. Russian LA court.  More exciting guests will be announced.


Over the years, this star-studded event has brought out many of Hollywood’s elite including Mickey Rourke (Emmy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated actor); Diane Warren (iconic American songwriter) Nick Light (VP of Sony Pictures); Larry Namer (co-founder of E! Entertainment Television, Movies, USA Magazine, and current head of Metan Global Entertainment Group); Rich Thurber (TV producer and road manager/producer for Howie Mandel, Janet Jackson, and Michael Jackson, currently working on NBC’s America’s Got Talent), Jeffrey Prang (former Mayor of West Hollywood), and more.


The pageant is open to any qualified female at least 18 years old who is a California resident with the ability to speak Russian. The final ten contestants were selected from over 50 applicants who have been in rehearsals for over a month.  The finalists will be judged in four separate categories: talent, bikini, evening gown and interview. The evening gown portion will be overseen by Russia’s fashion icon, Bad Apple Couture. Both English and Russian will be spoken throughout the pageant.


This year, the pageant winner will receive the title of Miss Russian LA 2019 and an award package including a bejeweled crown, appearance on the front cover of Fact Magazine, a couture evening gown, a beautiful set of jewelry and a four-day trip for two to Hard Rock Hotel in Punta Cana (all inclusive) provided by Dream Date Destinations Travel Company.


Katherine Pegova is the reigning queen. She has served as an ambassador this past year representing the Los Angeles-based Russian community at numerous public speaking engagements, fundraisers, and civic events. There are an estimated 600,000 Russian-speaking people in Southern California.  West Hollywood’s Russian-speaking community is the most concentrated single Russian-speaking community in the United States outside of New York and consists primarily of immigrants from different Republics of the former Soviet Union such as Russian Federation, Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Latvia, and Uzbekistan.


In conjunction with the competition, the fourth season of Miss Russian LA 2019 Reality Show will air in October 2019 on Russian Television with 14 episodes.
