The Gaslight Anthem & Jeff Rosenstock – The Met – Philadelphia (PopEntertainment.com Concert Review)

The Gaslight Anthem & Jeff Rosenstock – The Met – Philadelphia, PA – October 7, 2022

After announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2015 followed by a brief reunion in 2018 for the tenth anniversary of The ‘59 Sound, The Gaslight Anthem has made an incredible return to the scene and are here to stay. Their fan base has been overjoyed by their comeback, especially with the news of their sixth studio album coming out in 2023. The Gaslight Anthem – consisting of members Brian Fallon, Alex Rosamilia, Alex Levine, and Benny Horowitz –gave fans a night to remember last night in Philadelphia!

Waves of ecstatic fans gathered outside of The Met in Philadelphia, eagerly awaiting the performances of Jeff Rosenstock and The Gaslight Anthem. Taking the stage first at around 8:00 was Jeff Rosenstock, accompanied on stage by Kevin Higuchi, John DeDomenici, and Mike Huguenor. They were an amazing start to the show, kicking off the night with an energy-filled performance as more fans piled into the venue. Jeff Rosenstock had an incredible stage presence, and by kicking off the set with “Scram!,” “9/10” and “Wave Goodnight to Me,” he had fans on their feet and anticipating what was to come.

After a fantastic performance by Jeff Rosenstock, it was time for The Gaslight Anthem to hit the stage at around 9:15. Excitement in the crowd grew as the lights went out and The Gaslight Anthem began to take the stage one by one. Fans roared as the band kicked off their set with “Have Mercy,” “Old White Lincoln” and “Wooderson,” and feelings of excitement and nostalgia set in the room. After the first few songs, frontman Brian Fallon didn’t waste any time to start interacting with and chatting to fans in the crowd, expressing how happy they all were to be taking the stage in Philadelphia once again.

As the set continued, the energy stayed high and the mix of emotions in the room continued to grow. A smile could be seen on almost every person’s face as fans heard some of their favorite songs live for the first time in almost seven years. The Gaslight Anthem even surprised fans with the tour debut of “Too Much Blood” from their 2012 album Handwritten!

As The Gaslight Anthem’s set came to a close, they finished off the night by performing “The ’59 Sound,” and even bringing out Brit Luna from the local Philly Ska band Catbite to join them during the final song! This ended the night with a bang, getting everyone up off of their feet and ending the show on a high note. For my first time seeing The Gaslight Anthem, the nostalgia, emotion, and pure happiness emitted by the crowd made for an extremely warm atmosphere, and of course, a night of phenomenal music. While there is just one more show on this leg of tour in their home state of New Jersey, you can keep up with The Gaslight Anthem here so you don’t miss out on future shows: https://www.thegaslightanthem.com.
