The LA Art Show is Coming Back Again!

Updated: Oct 31, 2023

The LA Art Show is set to return to the Los Angeles Convention Center this Wednesday, January 19 through January 23, 2022. There will be new and exciting programming, just six months after their last event – the first since pre-COVID.

This kick-off to the city's 2022 art season comes on the heels of an incredibly successful summer return to live events. LA's largest and longest-running art fair makes a triumphant return to its traditional January event dates after the special July edition, this time with environmentally focused programming and more international participants.

Known as the most comprehensive international contemporary art show in America, the LA Art Show welcomes returning producer and director Kassandra Voyagis to the helm, following the success of her first LA Art Show in this capacity in July. Voyagis is well-prepared and excited to create a safe and engaging experience, welcoming back old friends and joining new ones for the first time.

"I am so honored to be once again bringing the art community together in Los Angeles, both with local participants and an international presence. With a focus on the global effects of humankind on the planet, it is the right time to be curating voices from around the world, and I am excited to facilitate this wonderful event."

With the increased ability to travel safely, many of the show's favorite participating galleries from Europe and Asia will be in attendance. Many of the attendees' favorite galleries will be returning with all new work including Arcadia Contemporary, Mizuma Art Gallery, Neue Kunst Gallery, Pan American Art Projects, and Rebecca Hossack Gallery. Among other highly anticipated returns, DIVERSEartLA is back with a new ecological lens.

Curated by Marisa Caichiolo, this year's edition will examine not just how the environment is represented in art, but how humanity's place in the world is depicted. This exhibition will open up an important dialogue about the Earth's past, present, and future, uniting the community around discussions of the global climate crisis and potential solutions. This topic is already at the heart of a growing number of art narratives and DIVERSEartLA is honored to provide it with an additional platform.

For this year's edition of the highly popular element of the LA Art Show, DIVERSEartLA invites art museums and institutions to partner with Science and Environmental Museums. Together, they will create an entire world of immersive experiences focusing on the looming impact we all face as the planet warms.

Caichiolo explains, "DIVERSEartLA 2022 will encourage visitors to confront the complex challenges of our global climate crisis and imagine potential solutions. This topic is at the heart of a growing number of art narratives, including exhibitions built with high-tech innovations, designed to inspire artistic appreciation and the desire to respond to environmental challenges, reinforcing the value of translating environmental advocacy into art."

Since 2015, LA Art Show has been a strong and unwavering supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® as it leads the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. In 2022, St. Jude returns as the beneficiary with the LA Art Show donating 15% of all ticket proceeds to its life saving mission. The LA Art Show is proud to bring together St. Jude and the art community once again, further expanding their positive impact on the community at large.

International model and actress Kaia Gerber will be the official host of the 2022 Opening Night premiere party, kicking off the 2022 art season. She will appear on Wednesday, January 19 from 7-11 PM. Gerber, known for her love of fashion, art, and culture, is a perfect voice for the next young generation of collectors and a great supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. With a passion for fostering community, whether it be her social media-based book club or lending her platform to others for the sake of education, Gerber is an exciting addition to this year's LA Art Show.

With an emphasis on relatable and timely issues, a gradual return to the fair's traditional international presence, and the ever-popular DIVERSEartLA part of the show, the LA Art Show is kicking 2022 off with a bang! Please visit www.LAArtShow.com to learn more.
